Happy Birthday Lincoln

It is hard to believe 2 years ago you came into my life. Even though I was scared and not ready to be a mom, I couldn't imagine my life without you.  You make me smile and laugh everyday.  You will one day understand how I feel when you have a baby of your own.  People tell me all the time how cute/smart you are.  You are almost to smart for your own good. Whatever daddy does or says you have to repeat or copy.  You also refer to your dad as Rob in the car when you want his attention.  I love how many words you are saying, that you play independently for hours.  I sometimes see me in you; your love for fruit, you don't like things on your hands (dirt, food, ect), and when you want something you want it now.  Thomas the train and Elmo's world (Mr. Noodle) are the only things on tv you will watch.  We have to go outside everyday and you are obsessed with seeing the geese at Nana's/  The funny thing is you have to take a sled and at least one ball down there with you. But, you make Gaga pull it back to the house. I think she is still your favorite person but Nana is also up there.  Cooper and you chase each other around the house throughout the day. Tag is your favorite game to play.  When you see something yellow you call it School Bus.  Also, you like going to Church and singing there.  you try to be quite and make it half way though but then you get loud.  After we sang happy birthday to you, you were trying to sing the song also.

I hope that you will become a strong independent man.  That puts down the toilet seat, opens doors for women, and is handy around the house. I really hope that your dad and I can mold you into that person.  I want you to know that you really might not be the best at something but you can still do it. Don't be afraid to fail!  Don't feel stupid trying new things. Because everyone feels that way sometime in your life. True friends will also be there no matter what happens. Don't be afraid to ask a question or someone out on a date in fear of the answer no.  No is something that you will hear throughout your life there will always be the first no and the last no but millions in between.  One day you will know that these things are true and you will feel that your mom really does know something but until then I will love you for who you are through the terrible twos and the snotty teenage years.  But, just know I will always be there for you and I am only a phone call away. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you or try to help you though. Believe it or not I was a teenager once.

I love you and can't wait to see what exciting things you do and say this year!

Lincoln's 1st Birthday Party

Today was Lincoln's 1st Birthday Party. It was so nice. He was in great mood. Nana, Papa, Aunt Erin, Uncle Dylan, Great Grandma Helen, Great Uncle Ken, Grandma Sheri, Grandpa Mike, Great Grandma Mary Anne, Great Aunt Angie (she would kill me if she knew I said that) Dillon, and Bob all gathered to celebrate his day with us. He got some toys, cloths, and money but no one went overboard.

He wore his party hat all day. He is such a neat eater that I had to help him with his cake.

He played with a couple of his presents but he loves loves his hockey puck and ball. We got him hockey sticks and a puck.

It was nice to have everyone together in our house.

First Pair of Shoes

Lincoln, Rob and I enjoyed the nice day yesterday and today. I bought Lincoln his first pair of shoes and we went out exploring! He hates touching the grass. When he falls down he makes faces while trying to pull himself up without touching the grass.

FIRST STEPS!

I am so excited. Lincoln has been walking around furniture and with toys since Dec 23. But today he took his first steps on his own. I was sitting on the couch and he took 5 steps from the stand to the ottoman. Then later he walked for Rob. I am going to try to catch it on video tomorrow. My little man is getting so big. He has become such a happy baby. I have the best baby now. I am starting to forget how bad the first 6 months were. He now goes to bed at 8 and sleeps till 8. All we do is lay him in his bed with his blanket and pacifier. He is out. He doesn't want to be rocked. Also, that is all we have to do for naps! He has 6 teeth and is working on his 7th. He eats whatever we eat and when I say whatever that is what I mean. Today, he had chili. He loves every food except green beans. (Just like Aunt Erin) He will eat anything and everything else. Wherever we go everyone always comments on what a happy baby. He smiles and babbles at everyone. He was reaching for a couple ladies while we were at meijers. He is a social butterfly.
I can't believe he is almost 11 months.

Lincoln 9 month picture

I just love this picture. He is so busy! He wants to walk but gracefully sits down instead. I can't believe how big he is.

Our converstion in Meijers today:
Me: How are you Lincoln?
Lincoln: Dada
Me: I see, are we going to have a good shoping trip?
Lincoln: Dada Dada
Me: Huh, I guess you want your Dad.
Lincoln: Extremely loud squel.

Everytime I would ask him a question or point out something to him he would say Dada Dada. But, he was a perfect angel which doesn't happen often. I love him so much

9 month visit

Lincoln had his 9 month appt today. He only had one shot and a finger poke but still didn't feel good tonight. I really hate taking him to the dr and I hope he doesn't get sick from going there. We have been very blessed because he hasn't been sick yet.

Stats- 22.5 lbs. He went from being in the 30th percentile to the 75th. He is a solid boy. He put on 5 lbs in 3 months.

29.5 inches long. He is still in the 90th percentile.

It was a noneventful visit. Can start table foods but he has been on table food for about a month.

He is still my little tornado. He is so busy. I never knew a baby could be so busy and so into everything. He is here, then there, then overthere. And to top it off I am watching a 4 month old tomorrow also. I am going to get up early to get my workout in. Wish me luck.

9 months old

Lincoln is 9 months old and I can't believe it. He is everywhere and into everything. He is standing on his own so I know walking is just around the corner. We are done with babyfood and on to what we are eating. He likes almost everything. You cannot snack infront of him or he throws a fit. He still will go to anyone. At swim lessons today he was letting the instructer hang on to him. He was kicking up a storm. I still need to schedule his 9 months pictures. I will do that later on today. He has 6 teeth now. He is such a good boy.

Busy Boy

Lincoln is into everything!!!! He is a crawling machine. He can stand using objects. He loves electical outlets and cords. He is so much fun. Yesterday he was talking with my mom on the phone and he was trying to kiss the phone. When he talks to my sister he talks back it is so cute. He also figured out today that if he takes his toys to the wood floor he can bang them and make loud noises. I love watching him learn. He loves to touch the Christmas tree. He rubs the branches. I am waiting for him to discover my manger scene. Our tree looks a little funny because the bottom 3 branches are not decorated.
In other news I have been working a lot. Well 20-30 hours a week. That's the most I have worked since Lincoln has been born. I am also car shopping. My lease is up in January. Rob is still playing hockey. I really think that he enjoys Lincoln more and more. The first 6 months are so hard for guys. There isn't that much for them to do. I could not imagine being a single mom. I am so thankful for all of Robs help. It is so nice when he gets home from work.

Crawling

Rob and I were decorating our Christmas tree and we looked down and Lincoln was on the move. He was going after the Meijer ad. He has been trying to crawl for about 2 weeks. He does one leg then the next then falls on his belly. But, he dows it supper fast. It is cute to watch. It was also nice that Rob was able to see him do that. I think I have my house babyproofed I guess we will see what things he gets into. He is also trying to stand. Lincoln goes over to the otoman and reaches up. He can push himself up using some of his toys and on all fours he is pushing hes butt way up in the air. We are in big trouble. He will be every where and in everything. Rob and I got our Christmas tree up. It looks a little strange not having the bottom decorated!! I also put out my Nativity scene. We will see how long that stays out for. It is a willow one so I might end up putting it up:(

Halloween

For Halloween Lincoln was a monster. I picked up his costume from the resale shop for 2 dollars. He hates to have things on his head so I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on anything. We went to Nana's and Papa's(my mom and dad) then to his Grandma and Grandpas (robs parents). Then we went Trick or Treating with Kevin Melind and there kids. We drank some beer and had a good time.

6 months

Wheatland 5 months

I have been a bad blogger. My camera won't let me upload pictures. Lincoln is sleeping though the night. He has made it 5 nights in a row!!! He can sit up by himself for almost an hour. I just bought him silly town and he loves to play with it. I am enjoying going to work but it is because I know he is safe. I love having my mom watch him.

Bananas

I started Lincoln on bananas. He has been eyeing my food so why not. He loves them and cannot get enough. It is so fun to feed him. I am sure it will become a chore but right now it is great. Rob loves to feed him also. I think next I will try sweet potatoes or avacodos. I am also making my own baby food. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Upper GI test

Lincoln is still spitting up (vomiting) like crazy (10-15 times after a feeding). I took him back to the doctors and I finally got some good news. He put on some weight. He is now 14.7. But, they had me take him to the hospital for an upper GI. He had to drink contrast and they filmed his abdomen. The good news is that he does not have pyloric stenosis. The bad news is they don't know why he spits up so much. It was a big relief to get that news. He is going to stay on the prevacid and we go back in about 2 weeks.

Prevacid

Lincoln is still spitting up like crazy... so they changed his medicine to prevacid. I really hope is helps. I feel awful for him. It has started coming out his nose again. he is still not putting on much weight. He only weighs 14lbs. On a positive note he almost rolled over this week. He is babbling up a storm. He loves to "talk" to his bib or blanket. He holds them in front of his face and babbles. I am going to try to video tape it this weekend. He is laughing, holding his own toys and teething ring in his mouth. I also gave him rice cereal this week and he loved it. I feed him off a spoon and he could not get enough of it. He had been eyeing our food for almost 2 weeks. My mom gave him a taste of banana and he wanted more. I am hoping the rice cereal will also help with the reflux.

You know your life has changed when you are updating your blog on a friday night!!

Update

This is just an update on Lincoln and my lack of sleep. The Zantac is finally starting to work good. He is spitting up less and not crying everytime he does. He is still not sleeping good. He will take 2-3 naps a day that only last 30 minutes. I finally got some books from the library. I read babywise and am reading secrets of a baby whisper. Today was my first day implementing babywise. It went pretty well. We ate, played, and then tried to nap. He actually feel asleep on his own. That is the first time. Granted he only slept for 40 minutes but it was a start. Lincoln can play and play. He can entertain himself for an hour at a time. I think that he doesn't want to go to sleep because he doesn't want to miss anything.
He almost rolled over today. He gets so close but can't get his shoulders over. I had his 3 month pictures taken today also. He has found his hands and feet. He is also mimicking us. He can blow bubbles. I believe those are all the milestones that we have hit so far. I love watching him watch his hands. Rob also has him holding his bottle when he eats. It is hard to believe that he is already 3 months old.

father's day

We had a great father's day. Lincoln and I made Rob breakfast. We spent the day lounging by my parents pool. Rob tok Lincoln in the pool for the first time, and he loved it.
